THE TREATMENTS

I use the best organic, unrefined base oils in my treatments, therefore, to make the most of your session I highly recommend that you use a body scrub beforehand to allow better absorption of the oils.

Deep Tissue massage focuses on the deeper layers of the soft tissues to release muscle spasm/tightness and nodules (knots), to stimulate blood flow to areas depleted of oxygen and blood supply.  This is a deep and firm massage and one of the most relaxing types of bodywork precisely because it is extremely effective at addressing pain, releasing tightness and giving more freedom of movement as well as being deeply relaxing. I will also combine lighter movements with this massage as it is not possible nor is it advisable to work so deeply on the whole body in one session.

Deep tissue massage is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, sore shoulders and low back pain.

Sports Massage can help treat strains, sprains and soft tissue injuries.

Not just for sports people or sports injuries. You don't have to be an athlete to enjoy the benefits. Muscular tension, stress and fatigue can affect everyone from competitive or recreational athletes, DIY fanatics, gardeners, busy housewives, or stressed office workers. Sports massage is useful in the treatment of ailments such as sprains, musle strain and soft tissue injuries.  It alleviates stress and tension in the muscle which builds up in the body's soft itssue during physical activity.  Sport massage can be used to enhance performance pre-event and to promote healing post-event.

During this treatment the main focus will be on the problem area but I will also incorporate other parts of the body if I feel it is required. For example, if you have shoulder pain I will usually treat the whole of the back.

Reflexology is a deeply relaxing treatment involving application of pressure to the feet.

Reflexology can be traced back to the ancient civilizations of Egypt, India and China. The oldest known documentation of reflexology is a pictograph that was found in the tomb of an Egyptian physician at Saqqara, near Cairo, which depicts patients having treatments done on their hands and feet. Up until AD200 in Greece, Delphi was an ancient health spa where reflexology was one of the treatments used to create relaxation, well being, and foresight.

Reflexology involves the application of pressure to specific points, known as reflexes on the feet.  I work with medium to light pressure and the treatments are tailored to your needs, which we will discuss beforehand.  The theory behind Reflexology is that it encourages the body to re-balance heal from within.  It may also bring relief from a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.   You may also so find it helps you sleep better and improves your sense of well being.

Although there is not a large enough body of evidence to make clinical claims of effectiveness, the best way to find out is to try it!

Aromatherapy utilises the therapeutic effects of essential oils to bring balance to the mind and body.  Aromatherapy is a massage using essential oils derived from plants.

The inhaled aroma from essential oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function. Essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream and can promote whole-body healing.

Whether you need to relax and unwind or be invigorated and revitalized, pure essential oils can help and are specially blended to suit your needs to help combat stress, fatigue, insomnia, muscular aches and pains and help blood circulation. This massage may help restore balance to the body, mind and revitalizes the skin.

Aromatherapy is particularly helpful for stress and anxiety related conditions and is a deeply relaxing treatment.
